Category & Shopper Development Student Co-op - Winter 2025
Ever wonder what a Fast-Moving Consumer Good (FMCG) is or how they work? The vast majority of the products you find while browsing a retail store aisle are Fast Moving Consumer Goods (also known as Consumer-Packaged Goods -CPG). These are product that’s consumers, like you, use almost daily and restock frequently, including household paper products, toiletries, cleaning products and also food & beverages. These products are a large foundation to the modern consumer economy and a significant generator of gross domestic product.

The Category & Shopper Development Student Co-op will be based out of Toronto, Ontario (1551 Weston Road, M6M 4Y4) with the opportunity for hybrid flexible work options. This is a temporary student position. During your 4-month co-op term month starting in January 2025, you will be responsible for proactively supporting the Category and Shopper Development (CSD) team in reporting and analysis, presentation development and working on solving key business issues.
In this role, you will assist in the creation of fact-based selling stories by providing relevant category, channel and customer/shopper information. You will leverage & interpret sales and market trends to identify areas of over or under performance, uncover the rationale & highlight future opportunities for growth. You will analyze shopper purchasing behaviors to assist in the development of recommendations that support achievement of our key business objectives. You will also enhance reporting capabilities, communication processes and continue the development of best practices within our coop student program.
Success in this role will require results-driven behavior, intellectual curiosity, analytical thinking, and the ability to develop and present recommendations. Job Requirements
- High academic achievement along with demonstrated ability to pursue other interests at the same time
- Strong communication / interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
- Analytical and conceptual thinking skills
The main duties/responsibilities of this role include:
- Assist the CSD team in producing and analyzing key reports
- Build analytical reports and presentations to support key business needs
- Analyze complex sets of data and clearly share relevant facts/findings
- Develop actionable insights to improve performance by uncovering category trends and understanding shopper purchase behaviors.
- Lead a key initiative and/or project to present back to key stakeholders at the end of the Co-op term
What We Offer
- $21.45 - $23.10 per hour, depending on grade level
- Co-op fee reimbursement up to $1000, if eligible
