SALES MANAGER
Work Location - Truro, NS
Cavendish Agri Services supports farmers in growing healthy and productive crops. We have 8 manufacturing/retail locations throughout Atlantic Canada. Our primary products include fertilizers, crop protectants and technical expertise.
The Sales Manager will be responsible for executing sales and building strong customer relationships in Nova Scotia. Knowledge of the agriculture industry, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to work well under pressure and the ability to adapt to a fast paced, dynamic work environment is crucial. He/she will be a results-driven, self-starter with a “Can Do” attitude who will be innovative in dealing with problems and in identifying and taking advantage of all opportunities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Arrange and coordinate technical meetings and workshops regarding specific crops and services as well as product and services offered. Customer visits.
- Prescribing custom fertilizer blends based on soil test reports specific to geographical location and crop types. -Prescribing various crop protection services and products based on specific grower, crop and operational details such as field mapping including VRA field maps.
- Operate as a team within strict sales/operational budgets by period to achieve sales targets.
- Facilitating loads of products using outside contractors as well as our personal fleet.
- Identifying relative market $ - GM/MT on fertilizer products, % GM on crop protection products.
- Formulate price lists based on grower details/ volume.
- Ordering and stocking product b/w branches and through procurement based on customer requirements.
- Raw material, crop protectant & farm supply forecasting for following cropping year.
- Soil sampling, product delivery, crop scouting, tissue sampling, pest monitoring/ identification.
- Manage the day-to-day duties of the Sales Support role.
- Execute on the account management process. Credit limits, terms, collecting on past due accounts at primary level.
- Perform, carry out, analyze and report data from field trials. Promote products.
- Operating/maintain business within customer budgets.
- Attend in-person & virtual industry & supplier meetings. Providing customer-based learning sessions.
Successful candidate will possess a combination of the following qualifications:
- Strong aptitude to grow career with an interest in management.
- Post-secondary degree/diploma in Sciences or Agriculture with experience in an agricultural environment; P. Ag or CCA designation is preferred
- 2-3 years sales experience within the agricultural industry, local experience is an asset
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet multiple project and priority deadlines
- Proven communication, problem solving and decision-making skills
- Ability to build good working relationships with customers
- Experience in creating, communicating and executing a business plan
- Ability to work variable hours due to seasonal nature of the business
