Engineering Technologist
In business since 1957, Kent Homes is the largest home builder in Atlantic Canada. With our plant in Bouctouche, New Brunswick, we have 150,000 square feet of space dedicated to building quality homes and offices year-round. We serve remote, rural, and urban centers throughout Atlantic Canada and Maine, US.
Kent Homes is accepting applications for an Engineering Technologist. The Engineering Technologist is responsible for the design and/or release of production drawing packages for all products, including home designs, fleet units, and commercial products. The Engineering technologist is also responsible for providing technical support for all departments and customers.
Qualifications:
- Education Required: Associate’s Degree in Civil Engineering Technologist, Electrical Engineering Technologist or Mechanical Engineering Technologist
- Years of Experience Required: 2-5 experience in architectural drafting. Prior experience in a manufacturing environment and/or construction industry will be considered an asset
- Strong skills in 3D CAD software; any experience with Revit Software, will be considered a strong asset.
- Comfortable with MS Office Suite of products (Excel, Word, and PowerPoint)
- Strong communication, organization, and time management skills
- Willing to take ownership and run with creative ideas
Key Responsibilities:
- Interfacing with other departments, professionals, and clients to agree on a path forward ensuring a smooth release of electrical and mechanical engineering designs
- Understanding how the design aspects of an order and/or project can influence and relate to performance and functional issues in production
- Evaluating and advising on environmental, legal, and regulatory issues
- Supporting residential and commercial bid packages
- Leading the detailed design process and coordinating design information (BIM using Revit)
- Producing, analyzing, and advising on detailed specifications for suitable materials or processes to be used
- Release of assembly drawings, associated bill of material, and support component release to ensure all design information is available to all internal and external customers
- Advance the performance of the engineering team by challenging the status quo and acting as a change agent for continuous improvement
- Support engineering daily management system with accurate workflow information (Jira)
