Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is seeking an Engineer, Production Engineering, Delivery Package.

 

 

ISI is recruiting a Manufacturing Engineer to work in the Production Engineering team.

 

 

As a Manufacturing Engineer working in the production Engineering team the role will be to provide technical guidance and assistance to improve production procedures, processes, and controls. The Manufacturing Engineer will be capable of conducting review and research into the 3d Design model, co-ordinate and liaison with Engineering stakeholders, Supply Chain and Operations, and aid the Development of all shipbuilding manufacturing processes inclusive of production flow, assembly procedures and production equipment.

 

 

Reporting to the Engineering Delivery Package (EDP) – Team Lead, the main scope of work for this role will include the following:
  • Procurement Package (Procpack) Support
    • Prepare operations portion of procurement packs (incl. boundary documents)
    • Perform evaluations of submissions against operations requirements
    • Prepare technical requirements and documentation for subcontracted build scope
    • Support for vendor on any technical issues related to these drawings and data during build
    • Support VFI review
  • Make vs. Buy Assessments
    • Strategic assessment, propose policy changes as applicable
    • Application of make vs buy policy to product
  • Govern Engineering Delivery Packages
    • Define the requirements for design agent technical artefacts
    • Review artefacts against the requirements
    • Support ISI's application of EDP
  • Manufacturing Data
    • Produce Nesting and NC Data (or support if subcontracted)
    • Review and validate the data (via drawings)
    • Determine requirements for NC Data information transfer format
    • Mitigate gap between Design Agent and ISI to ensure effective data consumption; including, post-processing, if required

 

 

This is a permanent full-time role based in Halifax Regional Municipality, Nova Scotia. Qualifications:

 

 

All successful applicants must meet requirements for Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

 

 

Key Responsibilities:
  • Report writing / Technical authoring
  • Capability review through analysis of manufacturing & design data
  • Assessment of Engineering policy documents / standards
  • Provide assistance to improve production procedures, processes and controls
  • Technical Support to Procurement
