ACCOUNT MANAGER, RETAIL

Location: Remote, US (near major airport)

Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick with sales office locations in Toronto and Boston.

Reporting to the Senior Director, Retail Sales, this position will be responsible for reporting, analytics and support for the US Retail Sales Team while managing the overall performance and development of Cavendish retail products at assigned accounts in the US.  The Account Manager will work in co-operation with functional and cross-functional peers such as AR, Category & Shopper Development, Demand Planning, Marketing and Supply Chain to build the Cavendish business in a steady, sustainable and profitable fashion, in accordance with the strategic objectives and with the core values of the corporation.  The successful candidate must thrive in a dynamic environment while operating within established processes and putting the Organization objectives first while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. The ability to multi-task, prioritize and problem solve is key. 

 

Successful Candidate will possess a combination of following qualifications:

 

  • Post-secondary education
  •  Relevant sales experience; experience in CPG considered an asset; direct account management experience with ALDI, BJ’S, Costco, Save A Lot, UNFI, Kroger and/or HEB beneficial.
  • Proven experience in persuasion and solution-selling skills
  • Disciplined time management & organizational skills, including strong sense of urgency
  • Strong bias for numbers and analytics, balanced by a level of creativity and problem-solving acumen
  • Results & improvement driven, customer focused, and excellent communication skills
  • Comfortable with change
  • Strong aptitude in Microsoft Office Suite including Work, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Additional preferred skills: Nielson, IRI, Retailers POS programs (ie Retail Link or POL) and internal programs (ie Cognos, Demantra)

Key responsibilities:

 

  • As a team player, creates and executes key account plans for assigned accounts in the US, to meet and/or exceed volume, revenue, and margin targets in accordance with corporate objectives for assigned product portfolio
  • Identifies business development opportunities by analyzing customer and category performance, working in cooperation with peer departments including Category Management and Marketing, develops fact-based recommendations/solutions to drive category growth while simultaneously growing the Cavendish business
  • Persuasively sells solutions into the customer and brings them to life through exemplary execution  
  • Reporting, analytics and support for select customer engagements on an ongoing and ad-hoc basis
  • Strategic revenue management optimization analysis for select major accounts using P&L data to provide direction on improving future ROI
  • Negotiates pricing to develop the business within the approved parameters and strategies of the corporation
